Here’s an extract…
THE LITTLE BUNNY
Bo the young brown bunny thumped her feet. “Hey, Old Red!” she shouted. “Catch us if you can!”
“We like being chased,” yelled her brother Buck, jumping up and down beside her. “It makes nibbling your lettuces much more fun!”
Old Red Rafferty looked up from where he was digging his vegetable patch, and let out a holler. The rabbits turned and fled. They bounded over the tops of carrots and raced down the grassy verge that ran alongside the allotment.
Old Red chased after them as fast as he could, his pink cheeks puffing and his fat belly jiggling. But, without a moment to spare, the bunnies disappeared down into their burrow. “Next time I see you nibbling my lettuces,” he bellowed, “it’ll be rabbit stew for you!”
But Buck and Bo did’t hear him. They were safe below ground with their family.
“That was fun!” said Bo. “Let’s do it again tomorrow! We’ll steer him into the nettle patch. That always makes him hopping mad!”
